Children's Minister makes healthy wraps in Brent

STSarah Teather, the Children's Minister, has been joining young people in her Brent Central constituency to learn about healthy eating.

Young people from the area were taught how to make a healthy chicken wrap in an interactive cook-in event held at the 20th Willesden Scouts Group as part of a national youth health campaign.

Make Space for Health is run by national children’s charity 4Children in partnership with Nestlé and supports young people to lead healthier lifestyles by delivering holistic, accessible health support to young people in a range of community settings.

Sarah Teather MP, Minister for Children and Families and MP for Brent Central said:  "I am delighted to be able to attend this event. It is very important that young children develop healthy attitudes to food from a young age to prevent problems with obesity or poor eating habits later on in life.

“Events like this help to increase awareness of the importance of good nutrition and encourage children to learn healthy eating habits in a fun and engaging way," she added.

Make Space for Health has created, developed and tested fun and accessible health and lifestyle programmes in youth settings. The programme resources focus on healthy eating, physical activity and emotional health and are available for youth settings and local authority or health agencies free of charge.
