Wath young people get cooking with shadow health secretary

John HealeyYoung people from Wath have joined their local MP, shadow health minister John Healey, in the latest Make Space for Health cook-in.

The event, which took place at the Wath Young People’s Centre, saw the teenagers making healthy chicken wraps with the help of Nestle professional chefs.

Sally Harper, aged 14, said the event would make her think about choosing better foods in the future: “If this is healthy, I like it,” she said.

As well as eating the wraps and learning how to make the salsa which went inside them, the young people were asked to complete a quiz on healthy eating and invent a slogan to use to advertise the wraps. John Healey MP then chose his favourite from those listed.

The winning entry came from CJ Byrne, who said: “Avoid the bap, have a chicken wrap”.

John Healey is the MP for Wentworth and part of Labour’s shadow health team.
